A SHORT SUMMARY COMPARING THE MARKETS LEADING ANTIVIRUS PROGRAMMES

Here we have a short summary comparing different points of interest regarding a few well known antivirus programmes.

Panda is an annual subscription service which includes antispyware protection, but generally is slower than the competition, it lacks the reviews from independent antivirus test sites, & doesn’t have third party independent antivirus test results, so there is little documentation, thus leaving their own opinion to go on via e-mail tech support, which is light. http://www.pandasecurity.com/uk/

AVG is a subscription service, but also offers a basic free version of protection. They have made some important changes to their programme, making the programme smaller, reducing hard drive space usage. Also the free version is being improved on various points, this will speed up scanning time, making it the third fastest suite so far this year, reduce impact on your computer system while still giving you protection against fake antivirus & ransomware. http://free.avg.com/gb-en/homepage

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good protection service which offers a free service.There is room for improvement in other areas such as the impact on your systems performance, there are not many tools available either. Norton is a well known antivirus programme, it has more support for Firefox browser, has more back up options & PC tune up, however, while it functions highly on new machines running Vista, older ones do not fare so well, installation can be difficult, it places gadgets without asking, it requires personal information for access to technical support sections that are at times confusing & expensive.
